Before we even got to the museum, a photo opp. presented itself to us:

After the photo opp, we shimmied on over to the museum.
At the museum, we went on a self-guided audio tour of an exhibit called Chicago Authored. The 50-minute audio clip for the tour featured snippets from Chicago Authors, some of which students had either read in our Agora meetings or as a part of their regular curriculum. Gwendolyn Brooks' poem "kitchenette building," a chapter from Stuart Dybek's Coast of Chicago ("Blight"), and some paragraphs from Sandra Cisneros' The House on Mango Street were all featured in this audio tour.



Also featured was the poem "High School Training Ground," by winner of "Louder Than a Bomb," a youth poetry slam. Follow the link, and take a listen: Malcolm London, "High School Training Ground"
The second exhibit that we toured as a group is called "The Secret Lives of Objects."
Objects became the focus of this exhibit and told their story to viewers. Some example are featured below:
